Today the world is no more a man’s world, female travelers have conquered the globe and are fearlessly globetrotting. You might have noticed in the past few years that a lot of women are becoming more and more independent and enjoying their own company. These inspiring women are crossing oceans and going to exotic destination for exploration all by their self.

If you too have finally decided to take your first solo trip, then you have already taken the first step to having a life-changing experience.

Backpacking and going to a foreign country is no doubt overwhelming, so here are some tips that will help you enjoy your journey of self-discovery the most:

Gear up for the trip

Plan your trip well. Carry clothes according to the weather and the activities you will be indulging in. After clothes, focus on other essential items that you would need for the trip. If you are going on a hike, carry all the essential hiking equipment that will come handy in your trip. Don’t forget to pack a comfortable pair of shoes for trekking. Make it a point to carry a basic sleeping bag or a portable tent that will take care of your sleeping arrangements. Remember to also carry personal hygiene items like menstrual supplies and pee funnel for emergencies.

Plan your safety

With so many crimes happening every day, women’s backpacking option might not sound secure. But the truth is that if you are prepared, then women’s backpacking can be as safe as going to some fancy hotel with your friends. One of the most important things to keep in mind while you are going on a solo trip is never to scream and tell the world about it. Many solo female travelers take self -defense classes before they leave for the trip, but if you don’t want to do that you can instead find your method of being safe. Carry a knife, pepper spray or something as simple as your rings and handbags as self-defense items. Don’t let your guard down and be alert.

Prep your body for the trip

Few months before your women’s backpacking trip, start taking more effort than you usually put on working out. Do some cardio to tone your leg muscles and to build your stamina. This will help you when you are walking miles during your trip. If you are not a gym person, then you can indulge in morning runs or brisk walking as they are effective.

Know the difference between loneliness and alone time

While on a women’s backpacking trip, make sure that you enjoy it to the fullest. Solo trips are empowering as they let you evaluate how much you love spending time with your self. Every woman at least once in her life should go backpacking.

Feel great throughout the trip

Just because you are alone does not mean that you cannot have a ball. Start your trip with positive thoughts and let the trip be a break from your monotonous routine. Meet new people, listen to their stories, communicate your passion and wander.

So, when are you going backpacking?
