Common Early Signs of Cancer

Common Early Signs of Cancer

Cancer is caused by uncontrolled cell growth that results from a DNA mutation in one or more cells. Several different external and internal influences trigger the mutations. Cancer is the second leading cause of death in the United States, causing about 600,350 deaths in 2020. The most prevalent cancer types are breast, prostate, lung, and melanoma. You can make a difference by making cancer donations to organizations like St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, which is helping fund cancer research. The following are some early signs of cancer:

1. Sudden Weight Loss Without Trying To Lose Weight
If you suddenly notice that you have lost a large amount of weight, it could be the beginning of cancer. Too often, people going through chemotherapy or radiation treatment will lose an amount of weight that is unusual for them. This might also be noticed if a person goes from being an active exerciser and suddenly starts not to exercise at all. The sudden loss of pounds often occurs without any effort to lose weight.

2. An Abnormal Lump or Mass
People who have cancer of the abdomen can experience swelling of their stomach. The reasons for this may include tumors, inflammation, or fluid buildup in the abdomen due to liver failure or other conditions. A significant amount of fluid that cannot pass through the kidneys and bladder will cause an ‘edema’ in other parts of the body. This is what causes swelling in the abdomen area

3. Unexplained fatigue
Feeling tired and rundown is a sign that your body needs cleansing. When your cells are in clutter and toxic overload from environmental exposure, it takes a lot of energy to keep them going. As the toxins continue to build up, you’ll experience continual fatigue. Cancer patients are often tired and in a weakened state.

4. Change in Bowel or Bladder Habits
The digestive tract and the urinary system are considered vital parts of the body that are extremely important for daily health. When these systems become imbalanced and begin to malfunction, an individual can experience several changes in bowel and bladder habits. These changes include constipation, diarrhea, blood in the urine or stool, and a change in urination frequency. These problems can sometimes be caused by cancerous tumors or non-cancerous growths affecting your organs and digestive tract.

5. Unusual Bleeding or Discharge
Any bleeding that you cannot explain and fluid discharge from a body area is considered an unusual condition. This type of bleeding is not normal, whether it is from the gums, nose, rectum, vagina, or even mouth. If it continues to occur without any signs of stopping, you should get it checked out by your physician as soon as possible. The more common types of bleeding include bleeding gums and nosebleeds. These are often a sign of a healthier body that is healing itself.

6. Excessive Bruising
If you are experiencing excessive bruising that does not seem to be related to any injuries or trauma, it may be a sign of cancer. This bruising is often called ‘petechial’ or ‘purpuric.’ The causes of this kind of bruising include bleeding disorders such as hemophilia and inflammatory diseases such as leukemia.
